BEDI
This Montreal label is transforming ocean plastic and upcycled seatbelts into high-performance Canadian outerwear and bags.
Founded in 2019 by sustainable fashion pioneer Inder Bedi, BEDI Studios challenges the traditional “take-make-waste” model of the apparel industry. After decades spent leading the vegan leather movement, the aesthetic is a refined “Japandi” blend of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian functionality, resulting in timeless pieces that are built to last a lifetime—and backed by a lifetime guarantee.
The signature collections are crafted from upcycled seatbelts, retired Air Canada seats, salvaged furniture, and ECONYL® (a nylon regenerated from ocean fishnets and landfill waste). Every piece is ethically handmade in small batches in Montreal, within a five-kilometre radius of their Mile End flagship. As a Certified B Corp, BEDI Studios operates with radical transparency, offering a “Second Life” program for their coats and ensuring that every hand that touches their garments is paid a living wage.
